World's Longest Overland Conveyor Marks 1-Year Anniversary
In 2005, ThyssenKrupp Robins designed a flight conveyor connecting a new mine with the existing Alcoa mine facility in Rockdale, Texas. At 19.1 km in length, the longest ever built worldwide, this overland conveyor is made further unique by its 10 horizontal curves and a booster station. The conveyor eliminates the need for truck haulage and reduces costs for gas, trucks, and roads, thereby minimizing environmental pollution.
