Robins History

1891 Thomas Robins develops the first conveyor system for moving heavy, abrasive materials utilizing steel idler rollers and rubber covered belting for Thomas Edison's Ogden Iron Mines
1896 Thomas Robins forms the Robins Conveyor Belt Company, which manufactures conveyor machinery, and patents the three-roll idler
1926 Robins Conveyor Belt Company purchases a substantial interest in Hewitt Rubber Company
1945 Robins' and Hewitt's organization merge as Hewitt-Robins, Inc.
1948 Robins Engineers & Constructors, Inc. (RE&C) is formed as the engineering and construction arm of Hewitt-Robins, Inc.
1965 Hewitt-Robins, Inc. is acquired by Litton Industries
1974 RE&C becomes an independent Litton Division
1982 RE&C builds the first pipe conveyor
1985 RE&C becomes a member of the PHB Weserhütte (PWH) Group
1988 Together with PWH, RE&C becomes a member of the Orenstein & Koppel Group (O&K)
1992 Together with PWH and O&K, RE&C becomes a member of the Krupp Group
1993 The name RE&C is changed to Krupp Robins, Inc. (KRI)
1999 Thyssen AG purchases Krupp AG, along with all U.S. subsidiary companies, including KRI
2002 The name Krupp Robins, Inc. is changed to ThyssenKrupp Robins, Inc.
